Is America sick of government?

These two polls showing the approval ratings of both President Bush and Congress at all time lows hopefully show that those who cling to government for help and protection, either Republicans or Democrats, will find other things that actually work when tried. Guns and religion perhaps?

Note: I also think it's interesting that Congress has a lower approval rating than the President.

I have two thoughts here. Yes, I think America is sick of government, and the reason is how badly it's been handled for the last 8 years. Our government has been used to start an unpopular war, handle our money very badly, and curtail our personal liberties. The culture of fear has gotten tiresome to many that accepted it initially.

Secondly, Democrats think so little of this Congress because of how little they've done to curb the White House's actions. We were all excited to get rid of the previous rubber stamp congress, but we replaced it with an ineffectual one. The dissatisfaction is primarily disappointment.

Do you assume that most people are dissatisfied with the war because we didn't find WMD's.? There were more reasons than just WMD's that we went to war. Actually, one of the books for the Book Club that I'm going to suggest deals with the decision to go to war. I think the war became unpopular among Republicans because the administration (under Rumsfeld's guidance) messed up the rebuilding effort after we overthrew Hussein. Unfortunately, the surge was started too late to bring these people back. I think we won't have to be there much longer because of the surge (God willing).
