Death Penalty for Child Rape

I am opposed to the death penalty, but if we have it for murder, we ought to have it for child rape.

Why do Republicans, who don't trust the government to do anything well, suddenly have enough confidence in the same government to give them power over life and death?

I see nothing wrong with the death penalty in principle but I think it should be banned because the risk of executing someone who was innocent far outweighs the benefits.

I agree with Kevin 100%. I'm not thrilled with the idea of the death penalty in general, but as long as it remains possible to convict someone wrongly then we must not kill them. You can always release someone that's been wrongfully imprisoned, but you can do nothing for the man wrongfully executed.

What about limiting the death penalty to cases where there is DNA evidence, as opposed to just far less reliable circumstantial or witness evidence?

For me to accept that it must be shown that DNA evidence is 100% irrefutable. One wrongfully executed person is unacceptable.
