Economics of Environmentalism

Until now, environmentalism has set itself up in opposition to pollution, and therefore to the people, businesses, and free market principles that drive economic growth and development. The Breakthrough Institute thinks we can make environmentalism consistent with - and even a source of - economic prosperity.

I think there is a lot of money to be made in enviromentalism. For example, I can't wait until I can put solar panels on my house. And I'd love to use less gas to get around in my car.

I think that because of high fuel prices, the market is now there for these kinds of things to come about more quickly. And I won't shed a tear if the oil companies are too stupid to invest in these types of technologies. I personally don't think they are.
